Les Fromages de l’Isle d’Orléans

Les Fromages d l’Isle d’Orleans is a quaint stop on your visit to Ile d-Orleans or Orlean Island.  If you are visiting Quebec City try to carve out a day to visit this beautiful island and sample its wines, produce and artisanal products like the cheese found at Les Frmages d’Isle d’Orleans.  Ile d-Orleans is a 20 minute drive from the heart of Quebec City.  Here you must sample the first cheese made in the Americas called Le Paillason Cheese which translates into the Doormat Cheese.  It is named this way due to its preparation method.  No worries, no one has stepped on it and it is delicious!  We always stop in, have a sample for $1 and buy some to take home. They do have other local products including drinks, fresh bread, dried sausages and many other cheeses. We make this our picnic stop because there is a picturesque area with picnic tables but seriously the cheese alone is worth the trip.  Make sure to pack a cooler to bring many of these cheeses home!
