Fendel & Lilo Cheesecake – Notes From Our Quebec City Visit

Fendel & Lilo stood out because the cheesecake format made it easy to do what I always want to do with dessert: try more than one flavour without ordering three giant slices.

The backyard terrace was the other surprise. From boulevard Bastien, I was not expecting such a relaxed outdoor space behind the building.

The entrance does not tell the whole story

From the street, the stop felt fairly straightforward.

Once we moved toward the back, the outdoor seating area opened up and gave the visit more of a linger-and-eat feel than a simple takeout counter.

That mattered because dessert is different when you have somewhere pleasant to sit instead of balancing a box in the car.

Restrooms were also available when we visited.

The cheesecakes are small-format

The cakes were portioned more like cupcakes than traditional full cheesecake slices.

I liked that immediately.

It lets two people buy several flavours and compare without reaching the point where cheesecake becomes a regrettable athletic event.

Piña colada. The piña colada flavour worked because the tropical profile cut through some of the heaviness you expect from cheesecake.

It still tasted rich, but it did not feel like a novelty flavour pasted onto generic filling.

Hazelnut

The hazelnut version was deeper and heavier.

If you like nutty, richer desserts, this is more naturally in that direction.

Both cheesecakes had the dense texture we expected.

Presentation. The individual size made the desserts look polished and deliberate rather than simply miniature.

That helped justify the format. It did not feel like someone shrank a slice and charged the same price.

There was a line

We encountered a queue during our visit.

That is useful historical context, not a prediction.

Do not show up in 2026 and become angry because a 2023 article suggested there might be a line—or because there isn’t one.

Who this stop worked for. People who want dessert and a place to sit outside.

Groups who like sampling several flavours.

Families who want something more interesting than grabbing one packaged sweet and moving on.

The small cheesecake format was smart because it encouraged tasting.
