Fly: usually the fastest option
Search flights from JFK, LaGuardia and Newark to Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). Nonstop service can be seasonal, so some dates require a connection. The airport is roughly 17 kilometres from central Quebec City; allow time for a taxi, rideshare or rental-car pickup after landing.
Drive: best for flexibility
The road trip is roughly 840 kilometres (about 520 miles) and commonly takes nine to ten hours before long stops or border delays. The most direct route usually follows I-87 north through New York and Autoroute 15 in Quebec, then continues toward Quebec City.
Carry the correct travel documents, check Canadian entry requirements, and review border wait times before departure. Winter conditions can add substantial time, particularly outside metropolitan areas.
Train: scenic but not direct
There is no single through-train from New York City to Quebec City. A rail itinerary normally combines Amtrak service to Montreal with a separate VIA Rail trip from Montreal to Quebec City. Check both operators because schedules, border procedures and same-day connection feasibility can change.
Bus: budget-friendly but long
Bus travel generally requires a change in Montreal. Compare the complete itinerary and connection buffer rather than buying two tight, unrelated tickets. Overnight or very early segments may be necessary depending on the day.
