Quebec City is one of the easiest places in North America to build a European-style Christmas trip around historic streets, outdoor markets and winter scenery.
German Christmas Market: November 19–December 23, 2026
The 2026 Québec City German Christmas Market spreads across six sites in Old Quebec, including Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, Place d’Armes, rue Sainte-Anne and Place D’Youville. Admission is free.
Grand Christmas Market: November 21–December 24
The Grand Marché de Québec also hosts its holiday market through Christmas Eve, giving you another option for local food and gifts.
Petit-Champlain
The historic district is heavily decorated for the season and hosts performances at various points during the holidays. It is especially atmospheric after dark.
After December 23
The German Christmas Market ends before Christmas Day, but the holiday season continues. Kaléidoscopes runs December 27–31, 2026 with arts and performances in Old Quebec.
Christmas Day planning
Do not assume restaurants and attractions are operating normal hours on December 24 or 25. Reserve holiday meals early and verify the exact hours for every attraction you consider essential.
Where to stay
Old Quebec gives you the easiest walking access to decorations and markets, but rooms can be expensive during peak weekends. See our Old Quebec hotel guide.
