Bon Matin is permanently closed. Current restaurant listings mark the former breakfast restaurant at 3100 rue de la Forest as closed, and another restaurant now operates at the address.
This page preserves our first-hand meal near the Quebec Aquarium. It is not a current breakfast recommendation.
Why Bon Matin worked for our family day
The location made sense because it fit naturally around a visit near the aquarium.
That is something I value when traveling: a restaurant does not need to be famous if it makes the day easier and gives you a good meal.
The strip-mall exterior did not suggest much. Inside, the room was brighter, larger and more personal than we expected.
The dining room had more character than the exterior
Local Quebec art was displayed around the room, with some pieces offered for sale.
A large sunflower mural on the ceiling gave the restaurant enough personality that it never felt like a generic suburban breakfast place.
That contrast is one of the reasons the visit stuck with us.
Coffee was part of the meal
Our cappuccino and mocha were both well made.
Breakfast restaurants sometimes treat coffee as fuel instead of part of the experience. At Bon Matin, it felt more deliberate.
The vegetable skillet was good but not perfect
The skillet was satisfying, although we thought the ratio leaned too heavily toward potatoes and could have used more vegetables.
I would rather preserve that criticism than rewrite the meal as flawless simply because the overall visit was positive.
French toast had the kind of detail children remember
Chocolate eggs served with the French toast were a small playful touch.
It was not culinary innovation. It was a breakfast restaurant understanding that food can be fun for a child.
The service mattered
The staff greeted us warmly, answered menu questions and stayed attentive while the room was busy.
That matters especially at breakfast, when half the dining room seems to need coffee at exactly the same moment.
Why this is now a closed-restaurant archive
Bon Matin is no longer operating.
Current Quebec restaurant directories explicitly mark the business permanently closed at its former 3100 rue de la Forest address.
That means old hours, prices, menus and reviews should be treated as historical information.
Where to look for breakfast now
If you are visiting the aquarium or staying in Sainte-Foy, choose a current breakfast restaurant based on your route rather than driving to the old Bon Matin address.

Bon Matin was a real family breakfast we enjoyed. The restaurant is gone, but the experience still belongs in the record of the trip.
