Cochon Dingue is a dependable bistro choice with multiple Québec City locations. We returned for the ribs, but its wider appeal is a menu broad enough for mixed groups and families.

Across from Château Frontenac, Le Chic Shack specializes in burgers, creative poutine, shakes and house-made sodas. The location is extremely convenient for an Old Québec sightseeing day, though peak meal times can be busy.
4. Le Saint-Amour
Le Saint-Amour is the special-occasion choice on this list. The food, service and dining room make it better suited to a planned meal than a quick stop. Our daughter was warmly welcomed when we visited, but families should still review the current menu before booking.
5. Casse-Crêpe Breton
This small Rue Saint-Jean restaurant is a longstanding option for sweet and savory crêpes. The format is casual and easy to understand, making it useful for breakfast, lunch or a lighter meal in Upper Town.
6. Buvette Scott
Buvette Scott offers a more intimate neighborhood experience, with a compact menu that changes with the season. Reserve ahead and choose it when the meal itself is the evening’s main event.
7. La Bûche
La Bûche leans into Québécois comfort food in a lively setting. It is a useful introduction to local flavors for visitors who want something more playful than a formal traditional restaurant.
8. Aux Anciens Canadiens
